There's a New Sheriff in Town!

"Meet Mr. Sheriff. Sheriff is a lab cross. He is such a snuggle bug of a puppy. He is very smart too. He goes to the door to let his foster mom know he needs to go outside and he is only 6wks old(as of 3/15/13). He loves his blue stuffie dog and sleeps with it. When it's time to go to bed at night he will whine at his kennel to let his foster mom know it's time to go to bed. He curls right up and goes to sleep. He gives the sweetest and softest kisses. He also loves to play with his toys. He also has a very quiet demeanor."

So we told the kids when they were little that we would get a dog when they were 5 and 7 years of age. We figured that would be a great time--no more kids in diapers, kids are more responsible, etc. etc.

So this spring, we stuck to our promise and started our search for a dog. We started looking at Pet Finder. Tyler cam across the picture and description above and said, "Judy! I found your dog!" We put in the application and to our surprise was called shortly after saying that Sheriff was available. So we set up the home visit and meet and greet. Sheriff snuggled his way right into the family. We made it official the Saturday before Easter.
The description was right. He is a very cuddly and smart dog. He hasn't come without issues, but we are enjoying his company.

Tyler posted this to Facebook on March 31st: New dog owner lesson/mistake #1/1000+. Sheriff took a header off the stairs and came up limp, yelping, holding his leg out as if it needed a tourniquet. I rushed him to an animal hospital (on Sunday...Easter Sunday) thinking, "We just got this puppy last night and already the ER!?" and learned that puppies, like human children, are often over-dramatic about their injuries, and he probably just tweaked an ankle.

The little faker has made a full recovery.

Hopefully we will not have to spend $100+ per lesson/mistake.
