Family Fun Day

It was a big day of preschool screenings, 18 month appointments, and a family trip to the Children's Museum! No wonder we have two really tired kids at the moment.

This morning as I was getting Zoey ready for her preschool screening, I asked her if she wanted pigtails. I told her that she could look like Kylie if she did. She replied, "I don't want to look like Kylie." I asked her who she wanted to look like then? "I want to look like me!" She has good self-confidence, this one.

And it showed when we got to the screening. Since it was at our church, she was very comfortable with the surroundings and ran all over, but when it was her turn to "play games with the teacher" she went right in and wowed them. It was fun to watch all the things they asked Zoey to do and how my "think outside the box" girl answered them. When asked to build a copy of the block tower that the teacher made, Zoey said, "Well, that's easy!" When asked to describe objects, the teacher said that Zoey is the only kid that she has ever screened that told her that the car rolls on it's wheels. Then with the word play:

Teacher: A table is made of wood. A window is made of. . .
Zoey: Plastic.
Teacher: A bird flys. A fish. . .
Zoey: Floats.

(Both are the only other answer that is acceptable to receive points.)

Zoey is doing fine and is ready for basically anything. . .

Zander had his 18 month appointment today to. He is in the 50th percentile for everything except his head. (The Livingston kids have big heads! We know!)

After all our appointments were done, we headed out to lunch and the Children's Museum. It was fun. My camera's batteries went dead, but I did manage to get a few pictures. I also have some other pictures from the last week or so thrown in.

Zander really enjoyed the museum, but I think his favorite part was the stairs.

Zander in the turtle shell--a picture must for all kids who visit.

Zoey has always enjoyed the museum--especially the community room--lots of pretending!

I thought this was an interesting picture of her dolls and her doll house. She told me that everyone was taking a nap.

Zander and I enjoying a book.

Zoey and I showing off our pictures of the family. Can you guess which one Zoey drew?

Zander's growing word list:
guck = stuck
gung = phone
alk = walk
gack = snack
gacka = cracker
doh doh = playdough
cawn = crayon

Great job, Zoey!
Zander seems to have the hard g sound down--time to work on "Grandma" and "Grandpa"! : )

Wonder if the people on the dollhouse were drinking Dunkin' Donut coffee. They could make the commercial.

Wow, Zoey is old enough for pre-school screening? That is mind-blowing on some level, and totally seems right on another! I loved to read her responses to the teachers! Will she go to pre-school at the church then?

What fun at the screening. I remember taking Tyler and Tammy and keeping my fingers crossed that they could stack the blocks. They did. The dollhouse made me laugh so hard I cried. I don't think I could nap at Zoey's house, though.
